Freightliner recalls about 2,600 trucks and chassis with Cummins L9 engines over fuel hose leaks
Fuel & taxes · Oct 20 · By Truker
Daimler Trucks North America is recalling 2,592 Freightliner trucks and Freightliner Custom Chassis vehicles with certain Cummins L9 diesel engines because a remote fuel filter hose can separate from its fitting, causing a fuel leak and an engine stall, according to NHTSA recall 26V660.
The points
- 1Affected: 2022-2025 Freightliner Business Class M2, 2023 Freightliner 108SD, 2022-2027 FCCC XCM and XCR, and 2024-2027 FCCC XCS and XBS, all with certain Cummins L9 engines (NHTSA).
- 2A fuel leak near an ignition source raises fire risk, and an engine stall raises crash risk (NHTSA).
- 3Cummins will replace the fuel hoses for free. Owner letters are expected to go out Nov. 20, 2026 (NHTSA).
- 4Contacts: DTNA customer service 1-800-547-0712 (DTNA recall F1042) or Cummins 1-800-286-6467 (NHTSA).
Why it matters
M2 and 108SD trucks with L9 engines are common in regional and vocational fleets. Owners should check VINs on NHTSA's recall lookup rather than wait for the November letter.
